Your local “Gurus” want to help you unleash your inner artisan on our newest art series – Leather Working at the Brewery! Join us for a very special evening featuring locally crafted beer, delicious food, a leather working class, and a take-home heirloom leather piece made by you!

On select Thursdays this winter – our evening will begin at one of the Twin Cities’ original craft breweries – Indeed Brewing Company, located in the Solar Arts Building in Northeast Minneapolis. Indeed has been a leader in the craft beer movement since its inception and been a force for bettering their community. Here, your GetKnit Gurus will be awaiting your arrival and get you checked in for our fun evening together. After you get settled in, you’ll be welcomed to order up an included craft beer, seltzer, THC, or N/A of your choice from Indeed’s eclectic line-up. For this even we’ve partnered up with local favorite and acclaimed Pizzeria Lola for this year’s featured dinner! Pizzeria Lola was founded over a decade ago by James Beard Awarded Chef, Ann Kim. Just for our event, they’ll be serving up a delicious buffet featuring their Kale Salad which has fresh kale, radish, carrot, scallion, golden raisin, ricotta salata, toasted panko, and miso vinaigrette. It will be served alongside a variety of five of their fan-favorite pizzas which will include: Old Reliable: house red sauce, pecorino, mozzarella a classic cheese pizza; MySharoni: house red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, fennel sausage; Margherita: plum tomato sauce, basil, fior di latte;Forager: fontina, taleggio, portobello, crimini, shiitake mushrooms, tarragon, parsley; and the Tavern: house red sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, jalapeno, honey…all for us to enjoy!

After we eat and drink our fill, we will meet our partners from Merchant Leather, a local leather worker and acclaimed artisan who’s committed to passing on the tradition of hand-making leather goods to the next generation of makers and crafters. Under the guidance of their qualified, personable and professional instructor, we will first get an overview of this time-honored practice and acquaint ourselves with the tools and materials we’ll be working with for the evening.

As part of this experience you’ll be able to choose between one of four leather projects that you’ll not only be able to create, but take home and enjoy for years to come. At time of registration – you can choose between:

For these classes, we will learn how to fold, sew, and punch the leather to fashion each design. Built to last, these items  are “classically styled and crafted by hand – and designed for everyday use for generations to come”.
