EVENT DETAILS:

For many, a dresser is a piece of furniture that is traditionally used in bedrooms for storing clothing and other items.  For a family in need, a dresser is so much more.  A dresser provides a family with a great sense of dignity as items that were once stored in bags, boxes, or on the floor, now have a permanent home.  We would be honored to have you join GetKnit and Bridging to help those coming out of poverty on our Dresser Building & Beers Volunteer Get-together.

The night will begin at the Roseville location of Bridging, a local nonprofit that is the largest furniture bank in North America.  Their mission is to effectively reuse donated items, and to improve the lives of those transitioning out of homelessness and poverty by providing quality furniture and household goods to them. For over 26 years Bridging has furnished over 60,000 homes!  To fuel this mission, we are asking that as part of your volunteering each participant help to sponsor the dressers we are going to build with a $20 (dresser drawer), $40 (half of a dresser), $60 (3/4 of a dresser), or $80 (a full dresser) donation.  We will collect this at time of check-in.  After a tour of their impressive facility we will begin building the dressers that your generous donations helped to purchase in a fun interactive volunteering experience!

After our 2-hours of building our dressers for those in need, we will head across the street to Bent Brewstillery, Minnesota’s first ever brewstillery – a combination craft brewery and small batch distillery.  Here we will receive a free 10 oz. half pint of the beer of our choice and toast to our efforts to help those in need.  We will then enjoy a brick fired pizza buffet for dinner from local restaurant, Grumpy’s Bar and Grill.

Craft beer, brick fired pizza, and that do-good feeling?!  What a great way to spend a Wednesday!
