Your day will be begin upon arrival at Union Depot – Lot C, where your GetKnit Gurus will be eagerly awaiting with coffee and pastries to help jump start your morning. A deluxe motor coach will serve as our chariot as we travel south to explore this magnificent land of golden corn and beers.
Our first stop will be at legendary August Schell Brewing Company in New Ulm. Upon arrival, we will embark on our private tour of the historic brewery that has been producing “German craft beer” for 6 generations. From there, we will sample a few of the over 100 beers they have brewed since 1860 and have free time to wander the Gift Haus. Before we pull out, we will be treated to a pint of our choice to enjoy from their recently renovated taproom.
Next, we will make our way down the road to the new Starkeller Brewery which is is the latest venture from Brewmaster Jace Marti of Schell’s. This brewery features an array of award winning “sour” Berliner Weiss style beers. Here our tastings will be complimented by a delicious BBQ cookout buffet catered right into the brewhouse from local favorite, Lola – an American Bistro. They will have a smattering of pulled pork, pulled chicken, cole slaw, and their famous gouda Mac-n-Cheese (vegetarian option available upon request).
After we’ve eaten our fill, we will make our way to Mankato Brewery where we will be greeted with more tastings and an energetic staff who is passionate about their beer and the town in which they brew it. An optional tour will round-out our stop in North Mankato.
From there, we will make our way east to Half Pint Brewing Company, located in the charming city of Waseca, MN. Half Pint proudly boasts to be Minnesota’s first “farm brewery” and makes small scale batches of beer from ingredients they grow! Here, we will get to enjoy our fourth tasting flight of the day as we get to hear more from the Half Pint team about their mission, story, and beers!
Next we will continue our travels east to the historic town of Owatonna, Minnesota where our final two breweries of the day reside. First up, we will make a visit to Mineral Springs Brewery whose mission is to create a positive, inviting environment for people to enhance and enjoy relationships with family and friends…all over a beer. Here we will get to enjoy our next round of beer tastings and have some free time to step outside onto their patio adjacent to the Straight River.
Foremost Brewing Cooperative will serve as our last (but not least!) stop for the day, located in historic downtown Owatonna, just a couple blocks away from Mineral Springs! Here we will be treated to our last round of delicious tastings paired with some of their Bavarian pretzel bites served with their house-made beer cheese sauce. Next we will enjoy a scrumptious dinner from their in-house kitchen. Dinner will feature one of the following, chosen at time of registration: Baja Chicken Bowl – Grain blend, corn, black beans, and chicken topped with fresh avocado, tomato, red pepper, sour cream, garbanzo beans. Served with avocado ranch dressing; The Reuben – Corned beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing on rye bread.
