Recently our gurus had the privilege of being introduced to the heart and minds behind the logoFriends of Brad Memorial Foundation” in Duluth, MN.  This group is comprised of the friends and family of the late Brad Rozman who passed back in 2009 after having a sudden seizure.  In Brad’s short but full life he had a lot of passions but the two that resonated with his pals was his love for music and beer.

Brad had discovered his love for drumming at a young age and pursued this passion for his entire life.  After finishing his percussion performance in graduate school, Brad dove into the Duluth area music scene, most notably as the drummer for both High Volt Rustler and Equal Xchange. Brad saw music not only as a way to entertain but to “create beauty and meaning” in his world and those around him.

bradAfter Brad passed, his family and friends rallied to try to keep Brad’s passion for the power of music alive.  In doing so they created the “Friends of Brad Memorial Foundation” which provides support and opportunities for young musicians (namely youth, college, and young professionals) in Minnesota.

In the spirit of this Mission the “Friends of Brad” have partnered with select craft breweries inDuluth to create a unique event – The BradtoberFest Run/Walk/Crawl on Saturday, October 5th.  This event gives participants a unique opportunity to sample local beer and music while traversing a path that links local breweries and beer-centric venues together on a 5k run, walk…or crawl.    If you are looking for an excuse to head north, BradtoberFest is it!
