Just a few of Guru Matt’s Experiences in the Land of 10,000 Lakes!
I have a confession: I am not a Minnesotan. I am an Ohioan. It is my home. I was born and raised in Ohio, I root for the Gopher’s Big Ten rival, the Buckeyes, and feel at home in a field full of cows.
Until three years ago, my only experience with Minnesota was watching Coach Bombay, Charlie, and the rest of the Mighty Ducks stick it to those evil Hawks (and dreaming of one day roller-blading around the Mall of America). By a twist-of-fate, and a new job offer, I found myself living in the Land of 10,000 Lakes at the age of 24.
In my time here, I have discovered that Minnesota has way more to offer than hockey and snow (although I consider these both to be benefits). I live in a land of craft brews and incredible views. There are more restaurants, pubs, parks, lakes, breweries, wineries, ice rinks, shops, and local businesses than I could ever hope to explore in one lifetime… But I’m going to try.
That’s really what GetKnit is all about. Whether you are new to the Cities, a grizzled Minnesota veteran, or are just visiting the Great White North, we hope to provide you with something new to explore. I cannot wait to share some of the sights, sounds, and tastes that this place has to offer with people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Who knows? – Maybe we’ll even find a way to roller blade in the MOA.
Trying a new brew. Visiting a new town. Skiing a new slope. Canoeing a new river. Touring a new site. Biking a new route. Hiking a new trail. Climbing a new obstacle. Eating a new burger – these are all things that I have had the pleasure to experience in this new place. I hope to help others experience these things – and many more – as we take on this wonderful land that, if I dare, I now call home.
